About The Run

“No child should die in the dawn of life.” That is what Danny Thomas, founder of St. Jude Children’s Hospital envisioned when an idea for a children’s hospital first became a reality. Today, area residents are continuing to help him make that promise a reality by organizing the 6th annual Quincy to Peoria St. Jude Run.
On August 6th and 7th , 2010, area runners and volunteers will leave Quincy and run 130 mile course to Peoria, IL to help raise funding and awareness for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital... the entire trek will take just over 21 hours to complete, as they run relay style until they finish at the St. Jude Telethon being conducted at the Peoria Civic Center.

2010 Car Wash & Yard Sale Results

dean | August 1st, 2010 | No Comments »

The car wash raised a total of $384, the yard sale raised a total of $400. With just a little effort, help, and support from the community, we were able to bring almost $800 more  in and had a blast doing both events!

Thanks to Rebecca, Emily and all the others who volunteered their time… and to everyone who attended the events.

Remember… the Run kicks-off this Friday, August 6th at 5:30pm on Washington Square!

Please get your  pledge form turned into Bridget  ASAP, at least by next Tuesday (August 3rd)  We are needing these totals so that we know what we can pledge to St. Jude next week.  It is very important that you also inform Bridget of what was donated online and “offline.”  If you need any help, let us know.  If your fundraising is not done or if you have some people/contacts that you are waiting to hear back from, please turn in your pledge form  (remember, minimum $500) to her and I’m sure that we can update it as your fundraising comes to an end.

To get a 2010 pledge form, click on the image below and print it off.  You may return it to Bridget Hilbing or Justin Wollbrink.  Thanks!!

Mandatory Safety Meeting

dean | July 22nd, 2010 | No Comments »

We have a MANDATORY SAFETY MEETING this upcoming Wednesday, July 28th at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be located at the Quincy Medical Group Sports Medicine building that has been the site of our regular runner meetings.

At this meeting  you will be receiving your runner bags with the St. Jude t-shirts, safety vests, stickers, motor home assignments, and a chance to review the run route and put your name where you would like to run.

You will also be learning about how much safety is emphasized on our run.  It is our goal not only to raise as much money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, but to also make sure everyone has a fun time and a SAFE journey along the way.

Lastly, attached is our 2010 runner pledge form that Bridget would like you to have filled out and ready to turn in at the Safety meeting.  You will need to fill in your donation amount that you have received offline, online, and the total amount.

Remember, you have until October 1st to raise your $500, so please keep that in mind as you fill out your pledge sheet.

Thanks!
